Albert Auguste FOURIE (1854-1937) Born 24 april 1854 in Paris. Dead 17 décember 1937 in Saint-Raphaël (Var) French Sculptor, painter and illustrator Albert Fourié was taught by Jean-Paul Laurens and Jean Gautherin at Ecole des beaux-arts de Paris. He began his career as sculptor. After his first exhibition in 1877, he give up sculpture for painting. His élégant portraitist style of women in bath, landscapes of parks and gardens worthed him several awards at the Salon de Paris in 1884, 1887 and gold medal in 1889. He illustrated books of Gustave Flaubert, Victor Hugo, Alphonse Daudet and Guy de Maupassant. His grave is settle at Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris.
