measurement 15 ½ x 10 ¾ inches (dated 1893)
The piece is wrapped in an original Victorian velour frame (removable)
Among Palissy Ware unique and important artworks are iconic Carré de
Busserolle’s masterpiece that are seldom put on the Antique market

Armand Carré de Busserolle was born in Draguignan on 8 December
1823. He was the son of military officer and at the age of twenty joined
the army. He became Captain in 1852 and served in Africa for about a
year, he was also heavily involved in the letter stages of the Franco-
Prussian war.
In 1870 he rose to Lieutenant-Colonel and later was promoted General,
he retired in December 1885 settled in Tours and took up ceramics as a
serious hobby. A remarkable platter with river fish and reeds
surrounded by an unusual blue and white border is displayed at the
Tours Museum of fine Art. This example is one of the few surviving
works by Armand-Louis-Henri Carré de Busserolle.
