Une paire de bougeoirs Empire en bronze doré à la main de Jean Démosthène Dugourc.Chacun a une tige cannelée et effilée et une délicate ornementation, surmontée de trois têtes féminines, avec leurs cheveux en couronne de marguerites.
Au sommet, un égouttoir à bec bulbeux.
Finition avec des pieds posés sur une base circulaire, décorés de palmettes et d'un bord perlé.

Période - Empire, début du XIXe siècle
Une petite note : en 2010, la même paire de chandeliers a été vendue chez Christie's à Londres.

A magnificent pair of Empire ormolu candlesticks in the maner of Jean Demosthene Dugourc.
Each with fluted, tapered shaft and delicate ornamentation, surmounted by three female heads, with their hair wreathed in marguerites.
At the top with bulbous nozzle drip-pan.
Finished with feet standing on a circular base, decorated with palmettes and a beaded edge.

A small note- In 2010 the same pair of candlesticks was sold at Christie's in London.
Jean Démosthène Dugourc (1749-1825) was a French designer, who worked for various royal and noble families in the late eighteenth century. His clients included the French nobility and the royal houses of Europe. In 1780 he was named as designer to the Comte de Provence (the future Louis XVIII) and helped to redecorate the Château de Brunoy (just southeast of Paris).
