Finely carved of two solid blocks of wood, this beautiful piece showcases the incredible craftsmanship of German woodworkers at the turn of the 20th century. The beautiful, dark toned wood is finely detailed, and the visible marks of the chisel provide a sense of intimacy that only the handmade can provide.

The top of the clock depicts a cozy farmhouse, surrounded by a grove of Black Forest pine. The intricate details of the carved balcony and windows make it feel as if you can almost peer into the house and catch a glimpse of the life of those who live there.

Every half hour, the front door of the farmhouse opens to reveal the cuckoo bird. The brass mechanism allows the little carved bird to open its beak and let out its signature “coo-coo!”, marking the time throughout the day with its song.

At the center of the piece is the clock face itself. Intricate brass hands point to the hours written in white roman numerals. Below the clock face is a carved scene of a watermill and a deer grazing in the forest. The details are exquisitely cut, providing great texture and depth to the idyllic setting. Below the clock hangs a carved pendulum, with rare cast-iron gilded pine cone weights in wonderful original condition. The mechanism of the clock is fully cleaned and in working order, ready to take pride of place on the wall.
