Bronze on a rotating Belgian marble base representing a woman on the rock listening to the sound of the sea signed Mathurin Moreau, born in Dijon on November 18, 1822, died in Paris on February 14, 1912, French sculptor. He was admitted to the School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1841 in the workshops of Jules Ramey and Auguste Dumont2. He won the second prize of Rome in 1842 He obtained a second class medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1855 in Paris, he was crowned with a medal of honor at the Salon2 of which he became a member of the jury during the Universal Exhibition of 1900 in Paris. He then exhibited a white marble bust there representing Ishmael, son of Abraham and Agar Between 1849 and 1879, Mathurin Moreau collaborated with the Val d'Osne art foundry Museums: Caen, Dijon, Paris Decorative Arts), Reims, Paris (St Augustin Church, Trinity Church, Opéra Garnier, Courthouse, City Hall, Les Tuileries, Pavillon Marsan at the Louvre, Place du Théâtre Français) Literature: Bénézit, Bronzes in the 19th century century, Dictionary of sculptors by Pierre Kjellberg.
