"Colbert And Fouquet, Pair Of Gilt Bronze Statuettes XIXth Century"
Pair of rare gilt bronze statuettes representing Jean Baptiste Colbert and it seems to me Nicolas Fouquet. The two men are in typical clothes under Louis XIV, Colbert became intendant of finances in 1661 after the fall of Nicolas Fouquet. These bronzes are of great finesse and precision. The original gilding is a little dull in places. The bases are in alabaster with traces of friction from the bronzes. No signing. Period XIX th century. Delivery 18 euros in France, 35 euros in the EU and 60 euros rest of the world.
