''Auguste Louis LEPÈRE, born in 1849, died in 1918 in Dordogne.
Painter, engraver, illustrator. Son of the sculptor François Lepère, he made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1870.
From 1876, he devoted himself more specifically to engraving.
He obtained two medals in 1881 and 1887 and a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889.
He was one of the first members of the National Society of Fine Arts in 1890.
In 1900 he was a member of the Jury.
year he was decorated with the Legion of Honor, he will be an officer in 1911.
Engraver with an indisputable talent, he especially made a name for himself as an engraver on wood. He is one of the rare modern artists who made original woodcut including scenes from Paris .
