Founder's mark "F. BARBEDIENNE. FONDEUR. PARIS"
Stamp marks "B", on the underside of the terrace
Posthumous cast by Barbedienne, circa 1876 - 1900

The Listening Stag is the counterpart of the Stag with raised leg. Both models were first cast around 1838. Ferdinand Barbedienne acquired several bronze models, including the Listening Stag, at the sale of the late sculptor's works in 1876.
