"Glazed Sandstone Cup, South East Asia, XIV - XVIth Century"
Large cup on circular foot. Beautiful finesse and balance of forms. It is adorned on the outer walls with a floral and vegetal decoration. There is a painted symbol in the shape of a star at the bottom of the cup. Glazed stoneware with sky blue glaze and a more pronounced blue for the decoration. Marks of time, earthy deposit at the bottom and outside under the foot of the bowl. Good general state of preservation: no cracks, lacks or restorations. Dimensions: diameter: 15.4 cm, height: 7.4 cm. "Made in China, these cups were intended, at the time, to be sold on the Southeast Asian market. They were transported on junks and were the subject of intense trade by participating in the influence of Chinese dynasties. Provenance: Former French collection acquired at a sale De Baecque, Drouot.
