Self-taught painter born in Brittany in 1913 (Romagné, Ille-et-Vilaine), Amand Bouvier is mainly known for his landscapes made in a neo-fawn style. At the end of the 1930s, he befriended Raoul Dufy, whose frank and colorful touch would influence him for a long time. An avenue bears his name in Nantes. The work that we are proposing is on the fringes of the many landscapes that we know of him and testifies to more personal research. Here he approaches abstraction through a mixed technique offering a textured effect on the surface of the canvas.
