Rare 19th Century Engraved Commemorative Glass, Pax France Russia, Franco Russian Anlliance, 1891

Very rare glass in blown glass and engraved on the one hand with the coat of arms of Russia with the double-headed eagle in a cartouche in the form of a coat of arms interlaced in a second coat of arms encrypted RF (French Republic) and on the other hand with a French and a a Russian standing on a mound.
The intersection of the two coats of arms in the upper part bears the word PAX on a rising sun background in reference to the Franco-Russian alliance established on that date.
The coat of arms of Russia is surrounded by branches and foliage of oaks, that of France by branches of laurels. Below we can read on a "banner" 1891 CRONSTADT - 1893 TOULON On the other side of the glass, as a symbol, two men, a French and a Russian, hold hands as a sign of alliance between the two countries; they stand on a mound marked with the inscription FRANCE ET RUSSIE.
Each proudly holds the flag representing their respective country. A bit of history: Alliances; The Franco-Russian Entente Cordiale. Exchange of letters between M. de Giers, Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs and M. Ribot, French Minister for Foreign Affairs, 15/27 August 1891. Military Convention, signed at Petersburg on 5/17 August 1891, ratified by the Tsar on 15 / December 27, 1893 and by President Sadi Carnot on December 24, 1893/January 4, 1894.
