Object description :

"Scholar’s Armchairs"
This pair of lacquered Yu wood armchairs by Scholar presents a beautiful balance of proportions and great solidity. The armchairs are reinforced at the angles working by a thick copper wire as it was often practiced for the seats of the mandarins who traveled through the Empire. Their backrest is decorated with sculptures in the round representing Taoist Immortals, in a vigorous and expressive manner. They have an old patina of use, soft to the touch and luminous. Their proportions make them very easy to use in any type of decor and interior.
