1 of 3 necklaces, stage jewelry, made for the opera l'Africaine in 1877 at the Opera Garnier in Paris. The three necklaces are more or less different, made with colored beads, in wood, ceramic and glass, embellished with shells, the whole being mounted on a coral-colored velvet breastplate on the front side, and yellow-gold color on the reverse. Brass pendant representing a sun with a lion's head. Probably a creation of the costume designer Paul Lormier according to the sketch of one of the costumes kept at the BNF. Each necklace is stamped on the back with "l'Africaine", "Opéra Garnier 1877", and a three-digit reference number, as well as a hand-written and oversewn label with the name of the actor who wore the necklace during of the show: Keller, Pacalet, Baguisto.
