"Majolica Plate From Castelli, Hand Painted Earthenware, Italy XVIIIth Century"
Plate in Italian majolica most certainly from Castelli, a major production site for majolica since the 16th century. Our plate is a thick plate of earth on which the tin enamel has been deposited. The decor is rare for this production with a biblical scene, an archangel walking next to a pilgrim, a dog becoming them. In the distance, we can see ruins and a palm tree. The colors are pale and soft. No apparent signature, just the number plate on the back. Period early 18th century. Frame in molded wood from the 19th century. Delivery 30 euros in France, 80 euros in the EU and 150 euros rest of the world.
