Jean DESPRES - Candlestick mounted as a lamp in silver-plated metal (20th century) Candlestick in silver-plated metal with a smooth cylindrical shaft, Mounted as a lamp Circular base and cup with hammered decoration, animated with bracelets. A cup on which rests a small cross. Signed at the tip under the base, circa 1950 The electrical system works. Jean-Eugène-Gilbert Després was one of the great jewelry designers of the first half of the 20th century. A friend of Braque, Signac and Modigliani, he produced many pieces, in silver or metal, very geometric in an inimitable style marked by cubism. Visible at the Courcelles Antiquités Gallery, at 41 rue des Acacias, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
