"Commode Secretary In Solid Cherry, Louis XV Style - Early Nineteenth"
This regional piece of furniture in solid cherry wood, made around 1820, has a front with a large flap, made up of a single seamless panel. This one has a mitred frame, it is pegged and has an ogee molding. A lock with key adorned with an iron entry serves as opening, in perfect working order. Two hinges and two hooks support the flap, note that the support part is slightly higher, a sign of a revision in our workshop. We discover a so-called stepped interior, with two shaped drawers and a straight drawer on each side, all the buttons of which are made of iron. In the center, a niche serves as storage space, itself surrounded by four small drawers. In front of it, one of the particularities of this piece of furniture: its small hiding place, accessible by a box pusher under the right drawer. The front is made up of three drawers of the same height, the first being a false one, the other two opening. The edge of the latter, with recess, as well as the original cut iron entrances, are details that give elegance to this chest of drawers. The buttons themselves are later, added to the workshop. The crosspieces between each of the drawers are also moulded. The sides of the dresser consist of two recessed panels. As for the quarter-round legs, they are recessed and end in raised scrolled legs at the front, and snail-shaped at the back. This chest of drawers regional secretary is qualified by the quality of its realization and its robustness. It will suit any type of interior, both classic and modern.
