"Important Athenian Barber, In Burl Mahogany Veneer, Empire Period - Early 19th Century"
Man's barber, round, in mahogany burl veneer, composed of a large belt, the perimeter of which is covered with white veined Carrara marble. Under the volute of the upper part of the feet, there is a circular tray, with cylindrical cavities of several diameters allowing bottles to be placed there. The set rests on three slightly curved legs, tapering downwards, ending in lion claws. These rest on a helix base in mahogany burl veneer, on wheels. A cylindrical element whose base has a chiseled brass ring, with Empire motifs, is placed there. Its top has a marble, surmounted by an element also in brass, probably used to place a water reserve. This vanity unit disappeared from interiors with the appearance of bathrooms in the 20th century. Today, it happens to be an original element of decoration and usefulness, which may just as well be suitable for both men and women.
