Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Saint-Étienne from 1952 to 1955, Michel Uhlrich, after a few promising exhibitions, left his hometown in 1959 to “go up” to Paris. The exhibitions follow one another in particular at the Bernheim Jeune Gallery but also in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland and the United States where Uhlrich has fervent collectors.
In 1964, the painter met the filmmaker René Clair who wrote him this dedication in the form of an injunction: "...I also hope that you will continue your journey without worrying about the conformisms and non-conformisms that one finds in the same radius of the Prisunic of inspiration”. Michel Uhlrich chose in 1973 to settle in Lagnes in the Vaucluse. Michel Uhlrich died in 2016.
