"Rare Art Deco Engraved Carafe In Crystal Silverware Maison Delheid"
Very rare crystal decanter with a silver mount from Delheid Brussels. It is possible the decanter was a special order from Val Saint Lambert. What is rare is an engraved piece of very good quality. Many artists of Russian origin during the revolution went to Belgium for and to France. They had techniques for working that we don't have in our regions. The Brussels firm Delheid was founded c. 1828 by Michel Delheid. Delheid Frères' well-known maker's mark, the letter D crowned with a small snake, was registered on January 23, 1862. Delheid Frères is best known for its large production of neo-style silver instruments. The company's big breakthrough came in the 1920s and 1930s and coincided with the success of the Art Deco style in Belgium. The Delheid Frères workshop remained active until the early 1980s.
