Object description :

"Béla Kádár (1877-1955) Hungarian, Tempera, Cubism, Metaphysics, Futurism"
Beautiful tempera on cardboard signed by the Hungarian painter Béla Kádár.
We recognize the painter’s style influenced by several currents, such as cubism, futurism or metaphysical painting.
This painting brings together several elements that the painter loves as still life (here unstructured) with this veil frequently present on his paintings, and of course women.

This painting has the particularity of being double-sided, on the back is what seems to be a part of a larger painting (I do not know if it is from the hand of the painter).

This tempera is in good condition, it is protected under glass, and sold with a frame that suits it perfectly.

Dimensions with frame: 71 x 61 cm
Dimensions outside frame: 59 x 49 cm

Béla Kádár (1877-1955)

Béla Kádár was a Hungarian painter influenced by “The Blue Rider” (Der Blaue Reiter), cubism, futurism, neo-primitivism, constructivism and metaphysical painting. Born in Budapest on 14 June 1877, Kádár became a distinctive modernist painter whose career spanned several decades. Kádár began his studies in 1896 and for this he went to Paris and Munich. He attended the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts and won the Kohner Prize in 1910. Kádár’s first works, which he began to exhibit in 1918, show the influence of secessionists and post-impressionists. In 1923 he exhibited with his friend Hugó Scheiber in Berlin at the Sturm Gallery in Walden, and 57 of his works were presented. Der Sturm was one of the most important avant-garde galleries in Europe and Kádár continued to exhibit there for several years. Kádár goes to the United States and stays there for a year. He exhibited with the Société Anonyme at the Brooklyn Museum. In 1929, he returned to Budapest to exhibit his works in his home country. Kádár was a personal friend of Chagall, Picasso, Kandinsky and Kokoschka. Like his contemporaries, his style evolved over the decades of the 20th century. His subjects range from Hungarian legends to metaphysics, portraits and fantasy decorative themes. Kádár’s place in the history of modern art was ensured by the publication of two books on his life and work. Kádár died on January 22 in Budapest.
