"Bronze Sculpture Naked Woman Eve Serpent Jardin Eden Van Den Bossche Nineteenth"
Bronze sculpture with bronze-brown patina representing Eve standing in the Garden of Eden, the snake wrapped around her arm with the apple in her mouth, signed Dom. Van Den Bossche*, on a green marble base, from the second half of the 19th century. This sculpture is in good general condition. Signed see photos. A note: accident (crack) at the level of an ankle, some scratches and wear of time, see photos. * Dominique Van den Bossche (1854-1906): was a sculptor born in Ghent (Belgium). He was a pupil of Louis Van Biesbroeck, Theodore Canneel and Pierre De Vigne-Quyo. We know a few works of him: the bust of Désiré Van Monckhoven, that of Professor Boddaert, the statues of Jacob and Philip Van Artevelde at the corner of Belfortstraat in Ghent. He also worked regularly with the architect Jacob Semey. He achieved a medal for Dr. Victor Deneffe. He is known for his historical scenes and his portraits. As a sculptor, he designed statues and funerary statues. Bronze or terracotta statuettes by D. Van den Bossche can be found in the art trade. Artist well rated on Artprice.
