A woman advances towards us, treated in a key posed by small impasto, while in the background others descend from the Calvary dominated by the three crosses. A virtuoso and self-taught engraver, he won the Gustave Doré Prize for engraving at the age of 18. In 1933, he founded a private painting academy in Pau, but he only really began to exhibit in the Parisian Salons after the war, obtaining the Prize for Young Painting in 1946, before gradually evolving into post-Cubism. almost surreal, then more and more abstract. Our painting, richly worked, is a splendid example of his first period. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone.
