"Secretary Louis XV Pierre II Migeon Estampillée Around 1750"
SECRETARY LOUIS XV PIERRE II MIGEON attr. circa 1750 W. 93 cm / H. 130 cm / D. 42 cm PIERRE II MIGEON 1701-1758 Cf. Pierre Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIII Siecle, 1989, p. 570 et seq. The date of accession of Pierre II Migeon to the guild of masters is unknown. Coming from a family of craftsmen, he founded a flourishing business as a cabinetmaker and merchant. His daily diary for the years 1730-1736 provides valuable information on his activity and his clientele: he thus counted among his clients members of the French high nobility and the royal family. It seems that his specialty was the manufacture of secretaries. Thus, a note in the diary shows that Migeon had sold secretaries worth 30,833 L between March 2, 1726 and September 2, 1731.
