Object description :

"Vindefontaine Water Fountain, 18th Century"
At the end of the Middle Ages pottery villages around the town of Vindefontaine were born. They set up a large potter's house, and made butter pots, pitchers, inkwells, vases, but above all potty sandstone fountains with brown enamel decorated with kaolin.
In the 1880s demand fell sharply but it was in 1894 that production stopped definitively following a major devastating fire which burned down a large part of the pottery villages where the workshops were located.
