"Pair Of Satsuma Vases In Japanese Porcelain - Early Twentieth"
Pair of enamel vases with inverted decorations. Appeared at the end of the 19th century in the province of Satsuma in southern Japan, this porcelain is characterized by its ivory-colored background and by a multitude of very colorful decorations in mainly ocher tones, embellished with gilded bronze. This pair of vases is the perfect example, incorporating all the criteria of authenticity of Satsuma vases. We find on the belly a representation of samurai at the edge of a lake, not far from a pagoda, seated on the ground. The collar is short, covered with abstract decorations and circled crosses. The foot also has small spirals. These brightly colored vases will bring the necessary warmth to your interior decoration.
