"Bembe Statue From Congo - Africa"
Bembe statuette from the Congo, presenting a standing ancestor, a rifle in his hand. Its belly features large scarifications in relief. His eyes are inlaid with ceramic. This sculpture, with a magical and religious function, protected its owner from accidents and illnesses. The right arm and the base of the object are formerly resculpted. Early 20th century.
