Sèvres - King Charles X Table Service - 19th Century
Manufacture de Sèvres, King Charles X service. Hard porcelain boat shuttle dish decorated with a laurel frieze and gold flowers, monogram of King Charles X under a royal crown in a laurel wreath. Intaglio marks, Sèvres mark in blue 1825, gilder's mark F in gold for Jean-Joseph Fontaine active in the factory from 1825 to 1837.
this service called "officers of the king's household" is in use under Napoleon 1st then reused and completed under Louis XVIII and Charles X. It will finally be replaced by the various services set up by Louis Philippe 1er (service of the offices, the officers, the princes, the balls ect) the monograms were often erased to affix that of the sovereign in place over that of their predecessor, sometimes several times on the same piece at each change of regime.

Originally located in Vincennes then moved to Sèvres in 1756, it produced so-called soft porcelain then hard porcelain following the discovery of a Kaolin deposit near Limoges and marketed from 1770. Over the political regimes it is found on all royal, imperial or presidential tables. Sèvres continually produced fashionable new designs which were widely admired and imitated.
