Object description :

"Travel Table"
Travel table.
Beech structure, sycamore drawers, mahogany fillets and veneer.
Late 18th, early 19th century.

This veneer is a curiosity: it must be a form of colored amalgam mixed, cut and plated. The decoration evokes the faience of Apt while also recalling the magnifying glass, but gives no indication on the origin of this piece of furniture.
It could be an English travel table, but this type of veneer is completely new, so it is difficult to define the exact origin of the furniture. Nevertheless, we can easily date it to the end of the 18th or beginning of the 19th century, considering its manufacture: entirely dismountable, the legs are assembled with large screws typical of the period. The drawers had an hidden opening system that has disappeared.
