"The Winner In Cockfight - Alexandre Falguiere (1831-1900)"
The winner in the cockfight, very large bronze sculpture with its beautiful original brown patina, it is signed A. Falguiere and bears the circular stamp of Thiébaut Frères Fondeurs Paris on the terrace. Weight: 24kg Alexandre FALGUIERE (1831-1900) born in Toulouse, he learned drawing in Paris at Carrier-Belleuse and entered the school of fine arts in 1854 in François Jouffroy's studio. He began at the salon in 1857 and won the Prix de Rome in 1859 with Mézence wounded. He then spent five years at the French Academy in Rome and sent several of his works to the Salon, notably in 1864 his Vainqueur au combat de coq.
