Portrait of a sumptuously dressed aristocrat from the Louis XIV period. With his haughty bearing, he must have occupied a high social rank, perhaps even at court. The portrait is of high quality in terms of the finesse of the brushwork in the rendering of the purple velvet of his coat, the embroidery in gold threads and his lace tie. His very realistic facial features are also of a great finesse. The oval of the gilded wooden frame from the Restoration period highlights this imposing portrait. Very good condition, a small lack of paint to report on the left of the coat in the background. Its dimensions: 78.5 cm x 94.5 cm, the oval: 63 cm x 78 cm.
