"Frans Francken And His Workshop - The Banquet Of Esther - Early 17th Century"
A beautiful work from the Flemish school attributed to Frans Francken and his workshop (Antwerp 1581 - 1642). This is a very large oil on canvas (168 cm by 89) on a blackened wooden frame. It was xpertized by Mr. Patrice Dubois. Esther's banquet with King Ahasuerus and Haman. Esther is considered the savior of the Jewish people, who still honor her every year during the Purim holiday. In this painting, in the background on the left, Mordecai on horseback is paraded through the town square by Aman (Bible. Book of Esther 5 & 6). An iconography rich in colors and scenes characteristic of the Flemish school of the early 17th century. Note relinings and some restorations
