Old Kashan Rug, Persian, 131 X 207 Cm Hand-knotted Wool In Persia Early 20th Century

Hand-knotted Kashan carpet in kork wool around 1900-1920, measuring 131 cm wide by 207 cm long for 490,000 knots per m2.
The central motif of eight flowers in a medallion juxtaposed with a smaller medallion, also flowery, has two important pendants.
He draws a large stylized blooming flower, surrounded by many other flowers and interlacing covering the field.
The border, made up of varied motifs, palmettes and alternating branches, is inspired by old models from Herat.
The whole of this piece is in very good condition, the velvet clean, the edges impeccable as well as the very short fringes.
The general condition is very good, there is no pile reduction, the fine kork wool used is of first quality.
The colors are fresh without loss of tint and not insolated.
This beautiful antique carpet originates from Persia today Iran, was knotted under the Kadjar dynasty. Kashan (Kachan, Keshan): large city in central Iran. During the Persian Renaissance, Kashan was the center of carpet production of legendary splendour.
Carpets with fine weaving, of a very great richness of composition, were knotted by the royal factory of the Shah Abbas.
They have become the centerpieces of museums and private collections. Craftsmanship was interrupted in Kashan between the invasion of the Afghans (1722) and the end of the 19th century.
The revival of rug production began with rugs that are distinguished by the superior quality of the wool giving an extremely velvety appearance.
These examples are called Kashan Motashemi, named after the most famous master weaver of the late 19th century.
The decorations are varied and offer meticulous craftsmanship: hunting scenes, figures inspired by Persian mythology, birds in a plant decor, trees of life.
Thanks to the superior quality of the wool, their tight knotting, the beauty of their natural colors and designs, the Kashan took their place among the best Persian rugs.
