"Scriban Chest Of Drawers In Walnut, Louis XV Period - Late 18th Century"
This regional piece of furniture, entirely in solid walnut, has a large flap made up of a single panel with perfect jointing and a mitred frame. It is equipped with a functional original lock with its key and bronze entry. Open, it rests on two sliding supports with brass buttons. The writing space is darkened with black leather with a gilt vignette and central pattern. The interior, said to be stepped, offers, on each side, three shaped drawers and, in the center, a door forming a tabernacle with a shelf. Special feature of this piece of furniture: its niche, which conceals two clasps. This system makes it possible to lock the two small drawers on the front alternately. Under these opens a large drawer with an original lock in working order. All three are recessed, molded, and fitted with drooping bronze handles. The uprights, also recessed and profiled in a bump at the front, end in snail feet. The slightly cut-out low crosspiece is decorated with a shell in the center. The sides are formed from a single seamless panel with square flowerbed edges. We will appreciate this slope desk for its functionality, its dimensions and the quality of its manufacture. ******** Period: Late 18th century. Excellent condition. Wax finish only.
