Important sculpture by Antoine Louis Barye (Paris 1795 - Paris 1875) famous animal artist, he entered in 1816 in the studio of the sculptor Bosio, in 1817 in that of the painter Gros, in 1818, at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. From 1823 to 1831 he collaborated with the goldsmith Fauconnier. Two other painters, Géricault and Delacroix also made a strong impression on him.
