"Animated Country Scene, Oil On Canvas, 18th Century"
By the naivety of the craftsmanship, this trumeau painting has the charm of those pastorals that illustrated happiness in a generous nature. The composition with a tree in its center is found in many examples and the picking of fruit is a way of mixing friendship and generosity. The invoice is very simple but the ingenuity of the characters is touching. On its original canvas (unrestored) this painting is framed by a carved wooden stick with its original paint, consolidated by a more recent cleat. There is a scratch in the upper part but which does not reach the canvas.
