"Mirror In Golden Wood, Louis XVI Style - Late Nineteenth"
Gilded wood mirror with large pediment topped with a floral crown. In a central medallion, a bird with outstretched wings feeds its young. On either side, two quivers intersect in the middle of tasseled garlands. The frame is molded in beaded frieze on the inside and cord on the outside. Each of its angles is embellished with elements in gilded wood, joined, striated and sculpted in foliage. The mercury ice is original. The set ends with two feet in pine cones, and is frozen on a gray background. This property is equipped, on the back, with three iron rings necessary for its installation. We will remember this large and pretty mirror for its generously decorated pediment, where this tandem of intimately linked birds sits enthroned. ******** Period: Late 19th century Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop.
