Object description :

"Eugène Galien Laloue (1854-1941) Oil On Canvas Farm Yard Barbizon"
Our painting represents a pretty countryside scene full of poetry, a tree-lined farmyard animated by two farmers' wives and a little girl, as the artist liked to paint them in the purest tradition of Barbizon. On the right, on a coping, a well. Probably a sunny spring day with its pale blue sky barely tarnished by vaporous clouds. The painting is from the 19th century around 1880, brilliantly painted by our artist with this lively, luminous and colorful touch, so characteristic of his work. Nice size because the painter has often accustomed us to smaller formats. It is highlighted by a beautiful frame in wood and gilded-copper stucco, old but later, skilfully fixed to the frame by pernettes. Signed with his pseudonym "L.Dupuy" lower right. Dimensions: Frame: 61 cm x 50 cm (format 12 F) With the frame: 62 cm x 73 cm Good general condition. On its original canvas with age wear, especially on the edge of the frame and small covers on the back (see photos). It has been cleaned and therefore ready to be installed. Hand delivered or sent by courier. Eugène Galien-Laloue, painter of the Belle Epoque, famous for his views of Paris in gouache, painted many works under different pseudonyms to escape the exclusive contracts by which he was bound. The best known of them was Louis Dupuy. The painter appears in the "Bénézit" as well as in the dictionary of "Little Masters of Painting" by Gérald Shurr and Pierre Cabanne, the Dictionary of painters in Montmartre by André Roussard, the Catalog raisonné by Noé Willer, Eugène Galien - Laloue, the triumph of Paris. His works are present in many public collections both in France and abroad and in particular in the museums of Louviers, Mulhouse, La Rochelle...
