A pair of gilt wood cherubs Italy, late 17th century A pair of carved and gilt wood cherubs from Tuscany, the angels are usually depicted nude but these are partially covered in flowing garments. They are the symbol of love and became common during the Italian Renaissance. Both show signs of wear due to age, some loss of gilding and wood (see photos)
