"Pair Of Empire Candelabra, Sterling Silver, Liège 1814-1831"
Extremely rare pair of candelabra with two branches in the Empire style dating from the period 1815-1831. The sconces and candle holders are removable, which allows them to be used as simple candlesticks too. They are in good condition. Curiously, a pair of candelabra was very rare at the beginning of the nineteenth century, unlike simple candlesticks which are very well represented on the art market. The candelabra are profusely decorated with typically Empire motifs in chased silver and molten silver. They bear the hallmarks of guarantee for solid silver 834% during the period 1814-31, the hallmark of master goldsmith of Louis Drion (1791-1855) and a hallmark of a Liège assayer François Joseph Toussaint (1784-1837) . They weigh 1800 grams.
