PLATE in pewter with molded round edge.Incompletely legible control mark : crowned C / --- /.
Ownership mark stamped MO
Diameter: 22.2 cm.
FRANCE, Mid 18th century.
Very good condition
The control mark was instituted by royal edict of Louis XIV in 1691. This mark had to include the quality of the pewter (C for common and F for fine), the name of the city and the year. Often these marks have been badly struck or worn by numerous scourings.
