Project for a fountain in Versailles' gardens
Two putti in a big shell , with their arrows, play with a crayfish , the whole scene on a stand and basin decorated with shells and corals around the basin. From the crayfish's mouth comes out a jet of water. The background of the scene decorated with a multitude of leaves and trees.

Jacques Houzeau (1624 Bar-le-Duc - Paris 1691) French sculptor was appointed sculptor of the King in 1663 and made several works that the Palace of Versailles owns and that Thomassin engraved.
Drawn and engraved by Le Potre, 1677. The engraver, Jean Lepautre (known also as le Potre) , (1618-1682) was a very famous engraver of the time, notably for architectural decorations and ornaments, member of the Academy in 1667.
