Object description :

"50/60s Bbc Microphone"
Original BBC microphone from the 1950/60s.

The story of B&C Speakers begins in Florence in 1944. After graduating as an electrical engineer that year, Roberto Coppini began working with his brother-in-law Fernando Borrani on the idea of a company that produced loudspeakers and electro-acoustic horns for the Italian market. .
The following year, 1945, Coppini and Borrani set up a company under the name "BBC Elettroacustica Professionale", using the initials of their surnames. BBC Elettroacustica Professionale, then just a small craft business, started making simple acoustic transducers.
BBC Elettroacustica Professionale remained a small craft business until the early 1970s, dealing mainly with systems for cinemas and theatres. Later, the company also began to devote itself to the production of acoustic transducers for outdoor use. The 70s were fundamental for the BBC, thanks to the progressive affirmation of the musical genres of rock & roll and pop, which resulted in a continuous increase in the number of live concerts with the consequent need for ever-increasing availability of professional audio systems. for outdoor use. In the 1980s the company identified "improving sound" as its new main priority, and the company name was changed to BBC Speakers SpA
In 1993 co-founder Roberto Coppini acquired majority control ( 51% of the company's shares, and the company took its current name, B&C Speakers SpA
During the 1990s, B&C Speakers continued to expand overseas, becoming one of the world's leading players in the sector components for professional audio systems, and extending its sales to all the main markets of the world, in particular to North and South America and Asia. , while maintaining its dominant position in Europe.
