Baccarat Rare sugar bowl in Opaline Agate "celestial blue" Napoleon III style. Enameled decorations with gold highlights. Height: 12 cm Diameter: 10 cm In perfect condition, bears the Baccarat Opaline Agathe stamp. Slight wear to the gilding. A gorgeous blue. For information, Baccarat has started to produce Agate glass, semi-opaque opaline glass (glass alloy and crystal silica). Agate glass was a success in the 1840s and 1870s and contributed to the reputation of the Baccarat house. 11 colors were available, including this magnificent celestial blue. For the enamel decorations Baccarat entrusted the production to the Manufacture de Sèvres.
