"Oil On Canvas Diana With Acteon And Kalisto 18th"
Oil on canvas, mythological theme, 18th century. The subject of the painting is taken from Ovid's Metamorphoses. The story tells the story of Actaeon who surprises the goddess Diana and her companions while they are bathing. This act angered the goddess of the hunt, who turned Actaeon into a stag which was then torn to pieces by her own hounds. The motif was depicted by Titian in the painting Death of Actaeon.
