Paul Sormani (1817-1866)
Beautiful and elegant living room table with curved legs and scalloped top in the Louis XV style forming a writing and working table thanks to a sliding top system revealing a drop-leaf top covered with blue felt and opening a mirror and a drawer with compartments.
Beautiful rosewood marquetry in Amboyna burl frames interspersed with very fine brass fillets (superb quality goldsmith work).
Top surrounded by a double mold of gilded bronze and ebony. Monogrammed central medallion on the top.
Rich ornamentation of gilded and chiseled bronze.
Work of the Sormani Maison around 1855 signed on the lock Paul Sormani 114 rue du Temple, address of the first workshops of Paul Sormani between 1854 and 1867.
Excellent condition, traditional varnish with a stamp redone by our workshop.
We also sell another table that can form a pair, strictly identical in proportions and design, only the wood species used vary (palisander vs rosewood), as well as certain gilded bronze ornaments.
