"Large Anglo Indian Compartment Box From The XIX Eme Century"
Important eventful box in the shape of a crossbow in solid rosewood from the 19th century.
an Anglo-Indian work executed for the counters of the time in India and for the English export market.
the rosewood is of superb quality and has alternating light and dark veining.
this box contains two floors of closing compartments thanks to lids in marquetry of bone, and various exotic woods.
the inside of the lid is itself decorated with a large flower inlaid with bone.
each small cover offers a beautiful work of marquetry and bone inlay.
everything is complete and in excellent condition with a buffer varnish finish.
the cover has a slight crack without impact, visible in the photos.
original lock, key and hinges. possibility of removing the two levels of compartments from the box.
an ideal box for a collector of jewelry, buttons, cameos.
can also be used as a very nice game box etc...
anyway it is a superb box in itself and without any lack.
be careful for a box the dimensions are important and the weight of the solid rosewood quite substantial. 19th century Anglo-Indian work.
