Stamped D. Genty - Beautiful Commode In Rosewood And Violette - XVIIIth Century

Chest of drawers with central projection of very good quality, opening with 5 drawers in 3 rows
The front of the drawers is in rosewood veneer in crimping in nets of amaranth and boxwood - Greek style and re-entrant - with friezes of kingwood frames. T
he rest of the facade is in violet wood.
The uprights are rounded, with a marquetry decoration simulating fluting, and finished with curved legs.
The sides are decorated with satin thread wood framed with a simple netting of juxtaposed wood and violet wood in the frame
The drawers are in oak, as well as the frame and the bottom The souls of the sides in resinous
The parquet is topped with a beautiful and thick white-veined gray marble. (3 cm)
Beautiful ornamentation of gilded mercury bronzes - Pull rings on pilaster.

The restoration was carried out in conservation. The varnish used was made by our cabinetmaker according to 18th century recipes (Venice white varnish called Roubo varnish) which is a transparent and very solid varnish. Its application was carried out with a rag, according to the techniques of the 18th century Stamped "D. GENTY" on the upper left crosspiece - with the punch of Jurande (JME)

Denis GENTY
He received his master's degree on March 13, 1754. He first settled in the Faubourg Saint Antoine and was considered one of the most important carpenters-cabinetmakers in the district.
A few years later, he transferred his studio to rue de l'Echelle-Saint-Honoré, under the sign "A la descendante des Tuileries".
His very wealthy clients belonged to the highest aristocracy. Other cabinetmakers, such as Landrin, Dautriche, Hédouin, Macret provide him with furniture that he sells with his own production.
The furniture, signed by GENTY, is mostly Louis XV style, worked with great taste. Some pieces of furniture, however quite rare, Transition and Louis XVI also bear his stamp.
