Chest Of Drawers, Transition Style Louis XIV / Louis XV - Late 19th Century

This dresser with movements, bulbous on the front and on the sides, opens with two drawers. Their rosewood inlays form checkerboards surrounded by lemon nets, with mahogany edges. The chamfers of the drawers are in Rio rosewood. They are provided with drooping pull handles and a central entrance in bronze, with functional original keys and locks. The crosspieces are in Rio rosewood veneer, and the lower one is decorated with an important openwork bronze, with foliage and flowers. The top, in a thick yellow brocatelle marble from the Jura, molded in groove and ogee, perfectly matches the lines of the chest of drawers. The rounded sides are in the same style and made of the same wood species as the front of the drawers. The set rests on four rosewood legs. Those at the front, with a pronounced curve, are trimmed with openwork falls at the top and hooves at the bottom. The interiors of the drawers and the back of the cabinet are in solid oak. We will appreciate this chest of drawers, in particular, for the harmonious contrast of its light and dark woods, which makes this old piece of furniture modern.
