"Swiss Commode XVIIIth Walnut Marquetry"
Beautiful decoration of friezes in several shades of walnut and fruit wood, for this chest of drawers with three rows of drawers, these are inlaid with double Greek nets. The lower crosspiece is finely carved with braids of laurels hanging from a central keystone, this one, like the dice surmounting the feet, is carved in its center with a floral motif. The sides are in solid wood carved with a macaron in each corner, the top also in solid walnut is inlaid in its center with a trapzeoidal reserve in brambled walnut, surmounted by a cartridge topped with a small cross and incorporating initials , it is probably a wedding piece of furniture. This chest of drawers probably comes from a Swiss workshop or from southern Alsace, it is from the 18th century.
