"Racks Lectern, Louis XVI Style - Mid-19th Century"
This light and dark mahogany piece of furniture has an inclined side, with a mitred frame. Its perimeter is framed by a half-round brass rod. Another wooden one, on the lower part is overflowing and allows to retain the leaves. The original dark leather center is adorned with a sticker, it shows some wear from time. The desk opens to the rear with hinges and closes with an original two-hook lock, in working order, with keys. On the top, a curved half-round part allows to arrange the feathers, brass inkwells are arranged on each side. The whole rests on a vertical mahogany upright, with four grooves inlaid with brass: the latter rests on an impasto base, in the lower part, reinforced by two scrolls, joined by a wide crosspiece. The upright supports a wooden frame, which makes it possible to adjust the height of the desk thanks to a system of notched racks, locking with a key. This pretty desk is a functional workspace thanks to its storage space and the modularity of its height.
